Does everything revolve around us? In the content part, we will talk about the future of humanity and technology in the context of the development of space industry in the broad sense. Among the guests will be experts from the Polish Space Agency, NASA Associates and leading personalities of art and culture.
Art
The cosmos has fascinated man since the dawn of time. Future Frombork Festival will become a space for premiere screenings of space-inspired works. A great musical, audiovisual and fashion feast awaits the audience.
Art
Nanook of the North (Stefan Wesołowski and Hatti Vatti)
A premiere performance of material created especially for the festival inspired by space, the Warmia region and the sacred aesthetics and architecture of Copernicus’ time.
Art
MMC
A show of the ‘Cosmos’ collection by the MMC design duo – a fashion brand originating in Poland and appreciated, like the discoveries of Polish scientists, beyond its borders.
MISSION
On 20 September 2024, Frombork, the place where Nicolaus Copernicus made his greatest discoveries, will host the Future Frombork Festival Art&Science – a space to discuss science, art, fashion and lifestyle, man’s place in the universe, but above all – the future.
Our inspiration is the figure of Nicolaus Copernicus – a man who was not only a great discoverer but also a (r)evolutionary. He had the courage to think differently, and by doing so, he changed the world.
Five centuries later, in this same symbolic place, we will attempt to take a fresh look at science and art. Like Copernicus, we aim to discover the (small) universes of contemporary reality.
Each part of the Festival, like objects in space, will interact with each other and together form an extraordinary composition. They will create the universe around us.
PLACE
Frombork is a symbolic city. It is impossible to imagine a more inspiring place than the one where Nicolaus Copernicus gazed at the stars.
It was here that the foundations of human achievement were laid, which probably even Copernicus could not have imagined. Would man ever have flown into space had it not been for Copernicus’ bold theory?
And ultimately, it was here that the important question was first asked: ‘Does everything really revolve around us?’
During the Future Frombork Festival, we will once again gaze at the same sky and repeat this question – surprisingly still relevant five centuries later.
Guests
Science
‘Does everything in the universe revolve around us?’, Copernicus once asked. We will ask the most eminent experts about this, as well as about the chances for a new Copernican revolution. Among them are:
prof Grzegorz Wrochna – President of the Polish Space Agency,
prof Grzegorz Brona – University of Warsaw, and from 2009 to 2011, also the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN),
Paweł Rymaszewski – Thorium Space, which is conducting work on a Polish telecommunications satellite,
Pawel Pacek – the Industrial Development Agency, member of TASK FORCE-PL – a task force for the selection of projects financed by the European Space Agency at the Ministry of Development,
dr hab. Piotr Orleański – Director of the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences PAN,
dr Tomasz Barciński – Head of the Laboratory of Mechatronics and Satellite Robotics at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The content director of the festival is Michał Szwajewski – President of the Space Entrepreneurship Institute, creator of instruments for exploring space and planets.
Art
The artistic part is co-created by a unique combination of internationally recognised musicians: Piotr Kaliński aka Hatti Vatti, and Stefan Wesołowski.
The MMC duo is in charge of the fashion part together with the most famous Polish fashion show director, Katarzyna Sokołowska.
